2012 | The FORD E-Bike Project
June 2012 | It was already marveled at in the hallowed halls of the IAA in Frankfurt in the summer of 2011 - only now can we report on this exciting project.
On behalf of the 2-wheel specialist WURM-Bikes from Hattingen, the WILDDESIGN team was involved in the ongoing project at short notice and, together with prototype builder Canto, managed to translate the initial drafts into a well thought-out and styled design study in just 4 weeks.
Under the direction of the FORD design department, an aluminum/carbon construction was developed for the frame, which weighs only 2.5 kilograms. With the 350 watt motor integrated in the front wheel, the bike offers comfortable riding assistance up to 25 km/h. The batteries, which enable a range of 90 km, are also concealed in the frame.
The WILD team, led by Milan Marovac, was once again able to prove its efficiency to the point and set a first mark as a newcomer in the e-bike sector. Further concepts in the e-bike sector are already in the works and include not only the frame design but also the ergonomic design of the charging stations.
The result not only caused a sensation at the IAA 2011 and was THE eye-catcher on the FORD stand. There was also a great response on the Internet and the YouTube videos were clicked on thousands of times.
