March 2009 | Case study about design development at the Chinese laboratory technology specialist PreeKem - including UI design and brand development.
Preekem - Microwave Digestion System
Workstation for rapid microwave analysis
WhenPreeKem approached WILDDESIGN, the company was planning to move from Asian to Western markets. PreeKem's existing brand and product design was not suitable to achieve the desired goals on an international level. We were commissioned to develop a new product design and graphical user interface GUI, as well as to create a new brand image and visual identity.
Design process
Afteranalyzing the competition and evaluating user interviews, WILDDESIGN developed two new products with a focus on security and user-friendliness. The previous physical interface with buttons was replaced by a user-friendly touchscreen.
Design result
PreeKemsuccessfully launched the two products "Excel 2010" and "Q2" in the western markets and attracted many interested parties to the PreeKem stand at its first trade fair appearance in Germany. As a result of this reorientation, PreeKem recorded a sharp increase in incoming orders. In the meantime, there has been increasing feedback from users that they appreciate the new design and feel very confident with the graphical user interface on the touchscreen.
