2012 | Fingerwave opens up new therapy options for the home
January 2012 | The young company move it GmbH from Bochum has set itself the goal of developing handy devices for movement therapy that patients can use comfortably at home, outside the therapy practice.
WILDDESIGN was commissioned by move-it Managing Director Dr. Oliver Kromat to bring the prototypes, which had previously been produced in very small numbers, to series maturity and to increase the marketing opportunities through a unique and consistent design line. The first project in the series is called "Fingerwave" and is designed to increase the mobility of the fingers and hand.
Dr. Oliver Kromat, an electrical engineer by training, has developed these innovative device concepts as a result of his own movement disorder and would now like to make them available to other patients at a reasonable cost, even without the support of health insurance companies.
Particularly after strokes, arthrosis, accidents, operations or auto-motor diseases, the inability to move often leads to stiffness in individual limbs, especially the hand. Fingerwave replicates the natural movements of the hand and moves the fingers up and down in waves and at random, making them looser and more flexible. By regularly training the muscles and joints, the Fingerwave helps to reactivate, stimulate and regenerate the hand and fingers - all through daily training within your own four walls.
In the first design step, WILDDESIGN developed a prototype for the housing of the Fingerwave that is suitable for series production and improved the internal mechanics. In the short term, the product will be ready for series production and further device concepts will be tackled by move-it. In addition to product design, WILDDESIGN will also support move-it in marketing and explore interesting new avenues here. We will report on this later.
